decided to run inside tonight since it was snowing/sleeting. i ran 2 miles and was having some shin pain, so i walked a little bit before running the other 2. it helped to stop and stretch before starting again. i walked for 30 minutes after my run and that felt so good. i spent that time in prayer and enjoyed the quiet. i thought about how thankful i am to be able to run.

42 degrees and sunny. i made it out the door. that is always the hardest part!
i decided to incorporate some speedwork this year and try to improve my time in the 10k, half and full marathon. i've stayed at the same pace for far too long. so, today it began...
i ran my first mile at 8:20. that would be BOSTON pace for me. too bad i'd have to keep that pace for 26.2 miles just to qualify. yikes!
my second mile was at 8:45, and i ran the rest right around 9 minute miles.
i've also decided to start doing weights for my arms again.
i'm determined to run my best marathon time in chicago.

finally started feeling a little better. i ran 5 today at an indoor track. i was hoping to run outside, but the 27 degrees just didn't sound very appealing.
it was my first run w/the ipod shuffle and i loved it! i like it better than an ipod for running.
i'm on track for my "long" run for the 20K, but i'm hoping to have a better week of running this week. and, really hoping for nicer weather!!!

a sick week
i've had a terrible cold this week and just can't seem to get past it, so i haven't run at all. ugh!
i'm hoping to run tomorrow, but we'll see how i feel. if i do run, it'll be a cold one! 30's and snow here. where did spring go?
my ipod died. that was a sad day. i was going to get another one, but then i started reading how so many runners love the ipod shuffle because of the small size. it will still hold about 250 songs, so i went with it. i love that i can clip it on anywhere! i'm looking forward to my first run with it.
today i will be asking our babysitter if she will be available this summer to watch the kids during my long runs while i train for the chicago marathon. i'm hoping she says yes! i want to be able to do my long runs on fridays, so they don't take away so much of our family time on the weekends. i'll let you know how it goes.

3 on a very windy day.

my longest run in awhile. my first 2 miles were under 9 minutes each and i had to wonder what was going on w/me. i usually keep a pretty consistent 9:30/10 min. mile pace, but i'll take it considering i felt good.
i feel like i am slowly getting to where i want to be.
it's hard to be patient though.

slowly climbing out from under the winter blankets and getting back on track. i ran 4 today...OUTSIDE! i even saw a few robins. ahh, there is hope!
today i am going to figure out my training schedule for the 20K that i will be running
