i guess i should write this while it's still fresh in my mind, even though i don't have all my pictures done to show you.
my friend amy and i left for chicago early friday afternoon. we stayed at my husband's cousin's apartment near downtown. him and his fiance made us a wonderful dinner that night. i went to sleep pretty early that night, but didn't sleep very well.
saturday we woke up ready to go to the expo, see lots of sights in chicago, and meet up with my friend
amanda. i was really excited to see her after 4 years of talking to each other on the phone and emailing. after the expo, we met up at milenium park and spent the rest of the day together. she is just as wonderful as i expected. we had so much fun together! here we are meeting for the first time:
the expo was very well organized and there was so much to see. i didn't really spend much time there, but felt like it was enough for me. i had so much i wanted to do that day.

amy, amanda, and i had some great chicago style pizza for lunch and spent the rest of the day walking around chicago.

these signs were all over downtown - so awesome!

and, there were some interesting characters too. like this man that looked like a statue, until he leaned over and made a smooching sound. so funny!

or, this guy that did some robot style dancing. he was pretty awesome, and had quite the crowd.

saturday night called for pasta, of course. we went to a restaurant that was having a deal for marathoners. the food was great and i really enjoyed the company. we had dinner w/amanda, her husband, and two ladies they met on the airplane that were also running the marathon.
before i tell you about the race on sunday, i have to say a huge thank you to my friend amy!

she is the one that roller-bladed by me during almost all of my long runs. she is such a great friend. she took pictures for amanda and i all weekend and made signs to cheer us on. i'm so glad she was there to see me finish!
in my next post i will share about the race on sunday.
and, tell you why i am running a 1/2 marathon this sunday!
