running

it felt so good to run today! lately it has been hard to find a time when it works for me to go. i feel like all of a sudden, i have reached the taxi-stage of parenting. i try not to overdue kid's activities (i don't want that to be the focus of our lives), but when you have more than one kid, it's hard to not be busy with outside stuff. anyway, i really wanted to run today and i knew is was going to be another busy night. so, i packed up the kids and we headed to the high school track. i wasn't even sure if i'd be able to run there today, but thankfully no one was there. i ran 3 1/2 miles. it was awesome. the kids played and counted my laps. they were my little cheerleaders. i kept hearing, "go mom!" it was so sweet. when i told them i was ready to go, they said i should do another lap. that was good to hear because i think this might be a solution to the no-running.

Isn't it neat when you finally seem to find something that "fits" the situation...even if only for a while! I have started trying to cross train w/biking and making myself do it one day during the week...challenging but possibly working! New job in August will help, but can't wait until August to get it under control. :-)

oh my - that first part could describe our life to a T! i've been very discouraged lately, feeling like i have to choose between caring for my family and working out. I love your solution, though, and may have to try it myself! way to go!

I wouldn't be surprised if your kids start running with you one of these days. : )

Going to the track is a great solution. Our local school track has a playground which worked great when my kids were younger. Enjoy the time when they are young- plenty of time to run when they are teens like mine and are off doing there own thing. For everything is a season!
