book

David Platt has a burden—a burden to see believers in America acting like New Testament Christians. But for the most part, he says we're not. Instead, we are pursuing the "American dream" rather than Jesus. Jesus told his disciples not to lay up treasures on earth. They were to take up their crosses. They were to live for others. They were to be willing to die for others. But we live for ourselves. We live for security, for comfort, for ease, for entertainment, and for retirement.

i'm intrigued.
just started reading this...
i'll share more soon.

I find myself guilty of this. There are times where I could give more but think....we need this or that. Funny thing, I always feel better when I give than when I purchase something. My heart fills with good things:) Thanks Wendy...it is a good reminder.

I've heard good things about it and we are definitely consumers by nature. Very hard to give up comforts ... even when we have so many.

This is the sermon series that Katie from The Journey recommended. I started it a while back, but I need to finish it. I think about this concept all the time, and feel a real need to figure out how this works in my life.
