i am not going to dwell on the past- on the heartache of what has been. He is going (and has already) to do something new. nothing is too great for Him to accomplish. i am reminded of His power and His ability to do just that.

::the end of summer is near.

we're starting school on monday. i'm ready to get back into a routine, and really looking forward to beginning our new curriculum. our shelves are full of good books that i am excited to read with the kids. fall is my favorite time of year. we just bought a fire pit, so it will be fun to sit by and make smores with the kids on cool evenings.

i took bre to the eye doctor today, and she needs glasses. she is excited about it because she knows several girls that have them. also, they make some really cute ones now. she picked out a simple purple frame, and they look good on her.

i signed up for a 1/2 in october. today i ran 4 and walked 1 for a cool down.
i think tomorrow i will take the kids to the track with me.
they like to count my laps.

hoping to do another full next fall, but we'll see.
not a priority, just something i enjoy doing.

we got all the carpet in our basement ripped out. what a bummer!, but it could be worse.
we have lots to be thankful for.
my sister is visiting from california, so we've been spending lots of time together. here's a picture of me with my three sisters. it's usually only once a year when we are all together now. can you tell that two of them are twins? they are identical. i was 8 years old when they were born, and i remember it like it was yesterday. i was so proud to be a big sister! i am 8 years older than the twins, and 14 years older than my youngest sister.

::we've had the wettest summer. it seems like every single night we have thunderstorms. it's been hard to get any sleep, especially for the kids. they've been afraid of more falling trees.
thankfully, our house is dry. unfortunately, that isn't the case for many.

**update: our basement ended up getting wet. our house smells like mold, and we are going to have to replace all our basement carpet.

i have poison ivy, again. it's worse this time. i started on a rx to help get rid of it faster.
i guess this is what happens when you live in the woods, huh.
the good news is we figured out exactly what it looks like, and started spraying today.
we have a lot of it!

dinner last night was great! after dinner we walked about 5 miles. it was wonderful; just what we needed. i feel refreshed today.

i had a great 4 mile run this morning. the humidity has gotten a little better here this week; what a difference that makes!

my sister and nephew are coming to visit this week. can't wait!!
