Week 3 called for: 3, 4, 3, 5.
monday - the girls rode their bikes by me while i ran 3. it was super humid already at 10 a.m. when we went. i was so proud of them for sticking it out, even up the hills.
wednesday - went to the track to run 4 miles. the kids had fun counting my laps, and running up and down the football field while i ran. the weather was great, and it was fun to run on track that i ran on in high school (usually the 800, 4x800, 1500, and 3000).
walked 4 miles that evening with my friend amanda.
friday - 3 miles. trying to mix up my 3 mile route. i tried a new one today, which was a nice change. i also ran with sunglasses for, i think, the first time ever. i still prefer hats to sunglasses, but it worked fine.
sunday - 92 degrees - a very hot and sweaty 5 miles. i was drenched and tired. came home and drank tons of water.
on to week 4: 3, 4, 3, 9

Marathon Training: Week 2
week 2 of my schedule called for 3, 3, 3, 7.
i ended up running 5, 3, 3, 8.
monday - ran an extra 2 miles today, since i was feeling so good.
saw a whole family of racoons in someone's yard; not something you expect to see during the day. weird.
tuesday - 3 (9:12 pace) - felt really good today, even up the hills.
thursday - 3 - ran my normal 3 mile loop, which is getting a little boring. i need to find a new route or run it backwards or something to mix it up a little.
sunday - 8 - (kept it under 10 min. miles) i didn't get a chance to run until after church, so i ended up running during the hottest part of the day. stopped once for water at the gas station. i need to figure out what to do for water. i got rid of my fuel belt because i didn't like wearing it and carrying the extra weight. i think i will look for a small hand held one to carry with me on longer runs. i saw one the other day that had a pocket for gels, which would be nice.
on to week 3: 3, 4, 3, 5. it's going to be super hot here this week. need to run early and stay hydrated!

starting week 2 of marathon training this week.
i'm using hal higdon's novice 1 training plan, and adding some miles in here and there. good ole' hal has never let me down.
a friend of mine is using the same plan and running the same marathon. although we won't be running it together, it will be nice to help keep each other accountable and motivated during our 18 weeks of training.
i'm so thankful to be beginning this journey for my 5th marathon. i don't ever want to take for granted the fact that being able to run is a gift from God. he is the giver of my every breath.

are marathons bad?
Have you read this article? i have several people in my life that are constantly telling me that marathons are bad for me. in fact, it was one of them that emailed this to me. articles like this give them more ammo. the thing is, isn't everything bad for us to some extent?! the air we breathe. the things we eat. the things we do, and the things we don't do...take vitamins/don't take vitamins...
it seems like even when you think you are doing something that is good for you, you soon find out it isn't healthy after all.
i'd love to hear your thoughts on this.

all things loved in may.
may day - delivering baskets of goodies to our friends on may 1st. such a fun tradition. i've discovered many of you have never heard of this. maybe it's only popular in this part of the country?!
this kitchen on pinterest. ♥
these stools (also in picture above) to replace our only-two-years-old stools that wobble and have chipping paint all over. these are 1/2 the price of our other ones.
this blog - i’m getting used to watching kate’s video hair tutorials as I get ready….although my hair never turns out like the picture. Sigh.
