well, i did it. i made it through week 3/18 of my training. woo hoo!
88 degrees w/high humidity today. i decided to wear my fuel belt today. smart move, i needed it!
5 miles today.

next week the miles go up - 3,4,3,9. it's supposed to be a little cooler, so that will be nice.

i'll leave you with some more pictures from our california trip:

3

another hot hot 3. the first mile was tough. my right ankle had been hurting some today and i almost decided not to run, but i thought i would give it a try. after the 1st mile it felt much better.
tomorrow is a rest day, so that will be perfect timing.

a few things i want to work on:
- drinking more water during the day (before running).
- stretching better after i run
- healthier eating (no 'pop' - a word just for you, amanda!)/more fruits and vegetables
- not paying so much attention to my pace
- practicing with gels on my long run, to figure out which ones i like best

i ran my 4 outside today. it was super hot again. i ran the whole thing, but never felt very good - lots of little aches and pains. hopefully tomorrow will be better.

i'm glad this week is relatively easy because i think i needed that after coming home from vacation.
this week's schedule 3,4,3,5.

105+ w/the heat index today. i decided to run on the treadmill today. i think 3 miles is definitely my limit on that thing, but i did it. one foot in front of the other - i press on. and, i'm reminded to not only be training my body, but to be renewing my mind by reading God's word.

here is my latest read, it's written by hal higdon (author of the training program i am using). i hope to share more when i finish it.

Week 1

today was the starting day of my training for the chicago marathon. i can't believe it is here! before i know it, i will be lined up w/44,999 other runners ready to tackle the 26.2 miles.i ran 3 today. i'm supposed to run 3,3,3, and 6 this week. we'll see if i can get some miles in while on vacation. it would be nice to run by the ocean. i may have to run on the treadmill at the hotel. we'll see how it goes. more importantly, i'm so excited to see my sister and my nephew!

slow week

i haven't been running much. everything is so busy. we leave for cali. next week and i've been busy going to the homeschool conference for 2 days. we have been enjoying some time alone. 2 date nights. last night we walked 10 miles (does that count?). 5 miles to the restaurant and 5 miles home. i loved it.
next week (or, the week after - we'll see how it works w/vacation) i'm planning on starting my training for the chicago marathon! i can't believe it's already here. so excited to run it with my sister and my friend amanda!

will catch up with all of you soon...
