latest

  • i had a great (relatively speaking) running week! 4,5,7,6
  • we are canceling cable! i will miss *hgtv, but otherwise i think i could live without tv. i think this will be good for all of us. did you know the average 70 year old american will have spent 10 years of their life watching tv?!
  • yesterday we spent the whole day at an amusement park with family. we were there from open to close. it was so much fun!
  • i think i have almost everything organized for the school year.
  • i have 9 tomatoes on my little plant.
  • my sister and nephew will be visiting in a few weeks. can't wait to see them!
  • we are starting to feel settled at home now. we have some more painting to do, and a few other projects, but for now we'll enjoy the summer.

::it was worth the wait.

while i haven't kept on track with posting a picture everyday, i have really enjoyed trying to. this has been a great way for me to record the days, and appreciate the little things in life.

our trip to colorado was canceled. the enrollment for steve's conference was too low, so they aren't having it. we were all pretty bummed about that, but we'll go there some other time.

i read something today that i liked - "life gives us plenty of commas and periods, but it's our job to make the exclamation points."

::70 mph winds last night. this is what we woke up to today.
so thankful we are all ok. two of our neighbors had trees fall on their house.

God provided for us in amazing ways today. we had family come with a chainsaw, several people asked if we needed help, we met some neighbors, a friend that just moved offered an empty frig./freezer for us to put our food in (power was out all day), and we were able to give firewood to some friends that needed it.

found out yesterday my grandma is having heart surgery on tuesday.
hoping to go see her this weekend.
i need to go visit my other grandma too. i still think of them as being 60, but they're both in their mid 70's now.
my sister is coming to visit today. can't wait to see her!
these flowers are brightening up the whole house.
last week i ran 4 times. it was wonderful.
starting to plan and think about school.
first, we need to have some fun on vacation though.
bre learned to play "row, row, row your boat" on the piano.

we're sharing a garden with a friend this year. it's been a great way to spend time together, and share the workload and some delicious produce.

::i boiled vinegar (2 parts) and sugar (1 part) and poured that over the cucumbers. i put a few peppercorns and some onions in the jars, too. the jars are good in the refrigerator for about a week.

i finally framed some of my favorite vacation pictures. i've been wanting to do this forever. i found some cheap frames at hobby lobby and used metal book labels. it was an easy/inexpensive way to have some meaningful art.

the pictures are of our trips to:
  • st. martin (our first cruise)
  • laguna beach, ca
  • malibu, ca
  • arizona
  • cozumel
  • monument valley

here's a close up:

today

just got back from running 5 miles. ahhhh! i so needed that! we've been so busy the last few months, that i haven't been consistently exercising. it makes such a difference with how i feel from day to day. and, i eat better when i'm exercising. hopefully i can get back on track now that baseball is almost over.

i went to renew my driver's license today, and barely passed the eye exam. looks like it's time to go to the eye dr.
